The Giannis Ripple Effect
The title for best player in the world is a 3 horse race. Giannis did it the right way. Ripple effects from this championship will be felt throughout both conferences as free agents decide what the next step of their careers will be. The 2021-2022 season will be a bloodbath, as teams use this off-season to return to full strength. Will another horse come out of the stable, or are the Top 3 solidified? Stick with us as we look at the future of Super teams, along with Giannis’ ascension in the history books.
All Hail Brandon Jennings
All respect to Bucks Legend Brandon Jennings. I remember his game back in the day. He was known as the swaggy point guard who had the lefty drip. Some nights you would be dazzled by the array of offensive moves performed by Jennings, while others nights would have one contemplating whether to send him to the D-League.
His prediction came full circle. It originated in the 2013 Playoffs when the (1) seeded Miami Heat was set to face a 37-45 (8) seeded Milwaukee Bucks.
It didn’t go well.
Who knew that 8 years later that same phrase would change the landscape of the league.
This is not a Finals recap. I would assume readers of this article watched this series. Instead, I want to talk about how this chip affects the league.

The Ripple Effect
Say what you want about this NBA season, who gives a rats ass…? There is no asterisk of any kind attached to this title. Milwaukee was the last team standing.
During an interview with (g.o.a.t.) Malika Andrews, Giannis reiterated what NBA fans across the globe were clamoring for.
Does it need to be said? Giannis is not one to shy away from taking slights at other players. In this circumstance, it seems obvious that he was referring to the little brother of New York; the Brooklyn Nets.
Kevin Durant is an amazing player and person. He pays for students’ tuition, feeds the homeless, and provides for the underprivileged. But two things can be true. He takes the easy way out.
This will be short because I have said this a million times. The 2016 Golden State Warriors lost 9 games in the regular season.
I repeat, N i n e.
They began the season 16-0, setting an NBA record. The Warriors would routinely be routing their opponents in the 2nd quarter. Steph was showboating with the best of them. The facial expressions of opposing players and fans were priceless. This iteration of the Warriors was an All-Time team.
The 2016 NBA Finals was tied at 89, with 54.9 seconds left in Game 7. The Cavaliers had to come back and have herculean efforts from their two best players in order to pull off this tremendous feat.
Then the 73-9 Warriors replaced Harrison Barnes in their Death Lineup…with the 2nd/3rd best player in the f——g NBA. The league was shot for 3 years. Kevin Durant won back-to-back Finals MVPs and never got the fulfillment that Giannis was able to obtain.
Respect is gained through adversity, not luxury.
Kevin Durant needs to see a Malaysian witch doctor. He recently had these comments regarding his tenure with The Dubs.
Future of Super Teams
Sh*t ain’t sweet anymore. The days of stacking the deck and hoisting a Larry O’B are no longer the norm. The Brooklyn Nets will begin the season as the odds-on favorite to win the title. Even if/when the Brooklyn Big 3 capture a championship, fans will still remember what Giannis was able to do in this season.
Expect to see hella edits of people putting the Ether music and Giannis quote behind the Nets championship parade video.
On Instagram we created a poll to see what our listeners/readers thought. The question at hand?
Giannis Ring or KD’s 2 Rings?
The poll results? 80-20 in favor of Giannis.
How does this impact the league? Will future stars/free agents decide to not take the easy route to a chip?

3 Horse Race
The NBA pyramid is filled with different tiers; categorizing players based on their overall impact on winning. At the summit stand three individuals, in no specific order
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Kevin Durant
LeBron James
Each of these three have a claim for the title of Best Player in the World. LeBron and the Lakers look to get healthy this off-season in order to make a deep run in the playoffs, in what may be one of his last shots to compete for a title as the best player on a championship team. In the East, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets look to remind the NBA what they are capable of when healthy.
And then there’s Giannis.
He said it himself, he’s fine if they don’t win another chip in the immediate future. He did what Kevin Durant couldn’t do and what LeBron went back to Cleveland to do. A weight is lifted from ones shoulders after getting the 1st championship. I expect to see a 2012-2013 Lebron-esque season from The Greek Freak.
Will Giannis be more motivated than ever to go back-to-back? Will another team rise to the top next season?

2021-2022 Season Preview
The path to the Larry O’B seems to become more arduous by the season. The talent in the NBA is at an All-Time high, parity is being restored. The 2021-22 season looks to have many teams returning to full strength as they look to make deep runs in the postseason.
Denver Nuggets: Jamal Murray Return, MPJ’s Progression, Peak Jokic
Golden State Warriors: Klay Thompson return + Picks #7 and #14 in the 2021 NBA Draft
Los Angeles Lakers: Rested Lebron + Healthy Anthony Davis
Boston Celtics: Jaylen Brown return + No more Kemba Stinker contract
Brooklyn Nets: Healthy Harden + Kyrie
The NBA is Back. Even with a Super Team winning, fans and players will remember and respect what Giannis did. Players around the league have taken notice.
Teams are gearing up for the long trek of next season, who will still be standing at the finish line…?
